Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 June 2026
This policy explains how Tome(“we”, “us”) — the website at thetome.gg — collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We aim to collect as little as possible. If you have any questions, email us at hello@thetome.gg.
Who we are
Tome is an independent, unofficial fan project about Riot Games' upcoming Runeterra MMO. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller is Andrew Haines, contactable at hello@thetome.gg.
What we collect
- Email address — only if you subscribe to our updates. We store your email and the date you subscribed.
- Technical data — when you visit, our host records standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited) to operate and secure the site.
- Aggregate analytics — privacy-friendly, cookielessusage statistics (e.g. page views) that don't identify you individually.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.
How we use it
- To send you the updates you asked for (if you subscribed).
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the site.
- To understand, in aggregate, what content is useful.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Consent— for sending you our email updates. You can withdraw it at any time (see “Your rights”).
- Legitimate interests — for running a secure, functional website and understanding aggregate usage.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers (processors) to run Tome:
- Kit (ConvertKit) — stores our email list and sends our newsletters.
- Vercel — hosts the website and processes server logs.
- Discord— if you choose to join our community server, your use of Discord is governed by Discord's own privacy policy.
We don't share your personal data with anyone else except where required by law.
International transfers
Some of our providers are based in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent frameworks).
How long we keep it
We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Server logs are retained only for a short period for security and diagnostics.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected or erased;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time.
You can unsubscribe instantly using the link in any email, or email hello@thetome.ggto exercise any of these rights. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
Tome isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the date at the top when we do.
